Why before how.
A clean build of the wrong thing is still the wrong thing.
What does fifteen years of engineering, SEO, and UX — built into one continuous practice — look like in production?
The most important shift in my career was not from one technology to another. It was from delivering what was asked to understanding what was needed—and taking responsibility for the outcome.
Across more than 15 years, that progression has led from hands-on full-stack engineering to leading complex, cross-functional work at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. The scope now spans architecture, UX, search, performance, analytics and applied AI, but the purpose remains consistent: create useful systems, clearer decisions and measurable business value.
Leadership style that I absolutely love - start with why, use evidence when opinions multiply, give capable people room to grow and remain accountable when the outcome is uncomfortable. It has supported complex cross-functional programs and measurable gains, including a 35% improvement in application performance.
Where this goes next feels fairly clear; more responsibility, harder problems and a serious focus on AI. Not AI because every business suddenly needs a chatbot, but AI that removes friction, improves a decision or gives people some time back. I want to help lead that work, talk honestly about what succeeds and what does not, and keep learning from people who know things I do not.

Fortune 1000
Most of my career has been spent inside systems where change is slow, dependencies are real and “just rebuild it” is not a strategy. Working in insurance and other complex environments taught me to care about what happens after launch: who maintains it, how it performs, whether people can find it and whether they can finish what they came to do.
I still like staying close to the work—reviewing architecture, tracing a performance problem, shaping a content model or helping a team through a difficult migration.
Outside the day job, I’m testing where AI, RAG and newer development tools hold up beyond the demo, then writing down what I learn.
